Castello di Ripoli, Cascina - Pisa in Toscana
Il Castello di Ripoli, conquistato dai fiorentini nel 1406, risale alla seconda metà del XIV secolo e presenta la struttura tipica delle ville o fattorie fortificate della fine del XIV secolo, simile in questo alle fortificazioni di Cascina.
I suoi resti, discretamente conservati, non sono purtroppo oggetto di attenzione da parte degli enti preposti alla sua salvaguardia, tanto che la breccia, oggi al posto dell’originaria entrata principale, è a mala pena visibile tra i terreni coltivati e le capanne sorte a ridosso delle mura. Il castello, a pianta quadrata, era corredato da quattro torri angolari anch’esse quadrate. Quando venne edificato inglobò, fortificandolo, un precedente edificio turriforme, sempre a pianta quadrata e in laterizio. Le torri, oggi mozze, emergevano rispetto all’altezza delle mura che sono in pietra calcarea del Monte Pisano.
